Ever found yourself having to check back daily on a web page for news updates because the site doesn’t provide an RSS feed?

An example for me is checking the T-Mobile support page for Android phone updates… I’m keen to know about the Eclair update when it’s released.

A new feature of Google Reader will now do this for you.

Copy the URL of the page you’re interested in and add it as a new feed in Google Reader.  Here’s an example of what is displayed:

It’s not Google Reader doing the work, of course, but Google’s powerful search engine; Google haven’t said how often they’ll check for updates to these new feeds.  From personal experience of using Google saved searches as RSS feeds, it is typically around a day between updates.

Once you’ve done this, you could use the new feed’s URL with another reader.  You can get the URL of the generated feed by clicking “show details” (top right) on the feed’s detail.
